News: One rescued from car accident in North Geelong
One rescued from car accident in North Geelong

On Monday 19th December, 2011, at approx 18:00HRS, South Barwon SES Volunteers were called to a car accident with persons trapped at the intersection of Bell Parade and Melbourne Road in North Geelong.
Once on scene SES Rescue Crews were met with two car head on collision, with one person trapped.
South Barwon SES crews, along with Geelong City CFA Rescue used the "Jaws of Life" as well as other Rescue equipment to free 1 patient from the car.
South Barwon SES Commander Andy Pitchford said Rescue crews worked for over 30 mins to free the patient from the wreckage, before being airlifted to hospital.
South Barwon SES Volunteers assisted Ambulance Victoria to load the patient into the waiting Air Ambulance before being transferred to Hospital.
SES Volunteers remained on scene for about an hour assisting Police with traffic control, and cleaning up of the scene.
South Barwon SES Media Liaison Officer Scott Clark said “The Christmas Holiday Period is notoriously a busy time on the roads. The SES is pleading to all road users to take care out there, plan your trip, share the driving, and above all, rest if tired to ensure you arrive at your destination safe and sound”
